About
I study Arabic in its contemporary varieties, with various emphases on contemporary Egypt, dialects as opposed to classical~standard, and more broadly the problematic links between writing~reading~speech.
My current research is on a written corpus by Egyptian contemporary poets, journalists and humorists.
Current interests include: sociolinguistics, theory of diglossia, theory and use of writing, and the rhetorical stances of social sciences.
أدرس اللغة العربية في شتى أنواعها، وأتخصص في مصر المعاصرة، ملاعبة اللهجات مع الفصحى، وبشكل أوسع، ممارسات الكتابة والقراءة والمطالعة والتكلم.
بحثي الحالي في "الأدب الساخر" في مصر، بإطار العقد الأخير، ومؤلفيه من الشعراء والصحافيين.
أهتم إذا بعدة النظريات مثل العلم اللغوي ـ الاجتماعي، ازدواجية اللغة، تطور الخط والكتابة ممارستهما، والخطابة الخاصة بالعلوم الاجتماعية.
